Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MedRune website at medrune.com and the MedRune mobile and web applications (collectively, the “Service”), provided by Alavna LLC, a limited liability company registered in North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (“Alavna,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service Is

MedRune is an educational study companion designed to help medical students prepare for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1. The Service provides multiple-choice questions, flashcards, clinical pearls, mechanism maps, audio lessons, and related study tools.

The Service is not medical advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for professional medical judgment. Content is for educational purposes only.

USMLE® is a joint program of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). MedRune is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBME or FSMB.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 to create an account or enter into a paid plan. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts and Acceptable Use

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree not to:

AI and voice features

AI-generated explanations, illustrations and synthetic narration are educational tools. Outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate and may not have been individually reviewed by a physician. Verify uncertain information with trusted references. Do not use the Service for clinical decisions or submit identifiable patient records, confidential information you lack permission to share, or unlawful content.

Interactive AI processes the messages, audio and study context needed to provide the requested feature. Voice mode requires permission; saved transcripts can remain after a session ends. Our Privacy Policy explains processing, and Support explains reporting and deletion requests. Do not use AI features to generate harmful, abusive, deceptive or infringing material.

You retain any rights you have in material you submit. You authorize us and our service providers to process it as needed to deliver the requested Service, subject to the Privacy Policy. Do not submit material unless you have the necessary rights.

4. Intellectual Property

Rights in MedRune software, branding and educational material belong to Alavna LLC or the relevant rights holders to the extent protected by applicable law. AI output may not be unique, and we do not claim exclusive copyright in material that is not legally protectable. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the Service for your own study purposes. Statutory rights and permitted uses remain unaffected.

“MedRune” is a trademark of Alavna LLC.

5. Payments (When Paid Features Launch)

Certain features may be offered on a paid basis in the future. If you purchase a paid plan, the pricing, billing frequency, and cancellation terms will be disclosed at the point of purchase and incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALAVNA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT USE OF THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN ANY PARTICULAR EXAM OUTCOME.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALAVNA LLC, ITS OFFICERS, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts with jurisdiction over Orange County, North Carolina, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” above. For significant changes we will provide notice through the Service. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
