MedRune is an educational product operated by Alavna LLC, based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. This policy covers medrune.com, app.medrune.com and the MedRune mobile apps. Contact us at hello@medrune.com.

Information we handle

• Account information: email address, account identifier, display name and profile information supplied by you or your sign-in provider. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in credentials.
• Study activity: answers, review ratings, progress, bookmarks, study plans, notes and session records, depending on the features you use. These records can be linked to your account.
• AI interactions: questions or messages you submit, the study material and relevant activity supplied as context, generated responses, and session or usage records.
• Voice: when you enable a voice session, microphone audio is sent for AI processing and, where transcription is enabled, speech recognition. Text transcripts and session metadata can be saved with your account. Listening to a recorded lesson does not require microphone access.
• Support and updates: messages and email addresses you provide for support or early-access updates.
• Technical information: device and browser information, IP addresses, request and security logs, app events and error information. Optional website analytics may use cookies and identifiers; it is not anonymous merely because reports are aggregated.
• Purchases, where offered: entitlement, transaction and subscription-status information from the store or payment provider. Payment details are handled by that provider; do not send card details to support.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide accounts and synchronized study tools, deliver AI and audio features you choose, support learning progress, respond to requests, manage access and purchases, improve the service, and prevent misuse. Early-access emails concern the product; contact us to unsubscribe.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you request, legitimate interests in security and service operation, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required. Optional website analytics is off until you choose to allow it.

AI and voice processing

Live voice study uses Google Gemini through Google's cloud services. Audio may also be sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to produce transcripts. The current live-voice pipeline buffers audio for processing rather than saving a recording to your MedRune account; transcripts and session records can persist after the call ends. Stopping the microphone does not delete earlier transcripts.

AI replies can be inaccurate. Do not enter identifiable patient information, confidential clinical records, passwords or other sensitive information into a study conversation. MedRune is not a clinical record system. See AI & learning for the difference between interactive AI and narrated lessons.

Our editorial tools also use AI providers to draft, illustrate and narrate educational material, including Google Cloud, OpenAI, ElevenLabs and models accessed through Amazon Bedrock. Producing a lesson from editorial text is separate from sending a student's live conversation to a provider. Provider processing and retention depend on the service and configuration; we do not promise that every AI interaction is immediately erased by every provider.

Who receives information

Google/Firebase provides hosting, authentication, database, storage, security, analytics and AI services. Service providers process information needed to perform their role. Google Analytics receives optional website analytics only after opt-in. Google reCAPTCHA helps protect our signup form and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms. Email providers process support and signup messages. Stores and subscription infrastructure process purchase information where those features are used.

We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable privacy protections.

Cookies and your choices

See our cookie and browser-storage notice. You can decline website analytics and change that choice later. This website choice applies to medrune.com in this browser; it does not change separate app settings or erase data already collected.

Retention and deletion

Account and learning records, including saved voice transcripts, can remain while your account is active. We do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion interval for all transcripts. We keep support, security and transaction records as needed for their purpose, legal obligations and dispute handling; restricted backups may take longer to expire.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data, or request removal of particular voice transcripts or waitlist information. We verify requests before acting. Where records must be retained for a lawful reason, we explain the exception. Uninstalling the app, signing out or stopping a voice session does not delete account data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local privacy regulator. Email hello@medrune.com to make a request. We may ask for proportionate verification, but never your password. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Security, location and children

We use access controls and service-provider security features to protect information. No service is completely secure. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate; applicable international-transfer protections depend on the service and jurisdiction.

MedRune is intended for adult medical learners, with accounts restricted to people aged 18 or older under our Terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied information.

Changes and contact

We update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice or request consent when required. A policy update does not by itself constitute consent to new optional processing.
